SAN BENITO COUNTY BIRDING: HOLLISTER SEWER PONDS: NOVEMBER 14, 2011

Howdy, Birders,

The first bird that I noticed as I was checking in at the office of the Hollister Sewer Ponds, was a beautiful adult PEREGRINE FALCON! This might account for the fact that I found very few shorebirds— not even a single Killdeer! On the far side of the ponds, a nutty Mourning Dove nearly flew into a MERLIN that was sitting on the fence. I swear I heard its wings graze the Merlin. No photographs today, as my camera is busted. No worries, though, as I ordered a new one today. Should have it by Thursday or Friday. Raptors rage on!
